Ship diorama - St Martin Brig Newlyn, Cornwall 1887. This is a handmade cased model of a ship in choppy waters and I would imagine it dates to the mid 20th century. It is very unusual. I have done some research and it looks to commemorate a shipwreck off the isles of Scilly around that date. The case is of planked construction and the interior has been hand modelled, carved & painted. The boat itself is of timber construction. The case is glazed with a heavy glass and the whole item can stand alone or hang on its back wires.
