This tobacco jar dates from the first half of the nineteenth century. It is made from a lead and spelter mix and is very heavy. It has an eight-sided design and has a removable lid with an figure head as the handle. The jar retains its original naïve yellow, black and grey paintwork - I have never seen on with this spotted pattern which is also copied on the lid.
Overall in good condition with some wear consistent with age and use. It is a little misshapen and the top does not quite fit inside the base as it should.
